composition

This is a great example of composition. The way the designer has photographed the two black women and made the cover seem all inclusive. The women’s braids in their hair give a sense of culture and tradition . Furthermore the colours in the Headline work extremely nicely with the magazine cover as a whole, the colours bring it together and are not too dull or too distracting from the main focus of the page. The names of the women in the middle of the page gets straight to the point for the reader, they have some sort of idea of what they will find inside the magazine, perhaps information about the women themselves and what they want to speak on in the article. I also find the representation of black women on the cover respectful and inspiring, it used to be seen as a rare thing that ethnic minorities would be allowed their face on the cover of such a famous magazine. It almost represents a force of change for the future.

This is my redesign of the image above, i chose a completely different image of the same woman as i felt as though the first image was too zoomed in and had too much focus on her face. When redesigning the piece I kept at hand the eye dropper tool so that I had the ability to use colours from the image such as her dress and the background to create a personalized colour palette so that the colours would mesh better together.
