During a group discussion in class, we were required to discuss our original concepts and produce A3 storyboards that were taped together. Developing a draft idea and presenting it to our peers for input and inspiration was the goal of this session.
For my animation I chose to base it on the planetary system/Calder option. The name for my animation is 'A child's world'.
The start of my animation takes place within a cinema room, where the child is watching the movie screen and a movie about the planets and the galaxy is playing, we then see what the child is thing about and the planets start to orbit around the child's head, almost like a baby mobile. The planets then move to a black screen (space) and orbit around , all of them being different sizes to show the differentiation in planets.
It then zooms back into the childs eye where the planets spinning slowly morph into a shadow figure of a baby. This will be where the metamorphosis takes place.
Once thinking up my idea and my concept for my animation I drew out a storyboard on paper to collect my ideas and make them visually clearer to myself.
refined sketch for my storyboard
This is an example of how I would like to orbit the planets around the screen in different sizes and incorporating different layers, this reinforces Tuftes idea or separation but also of layering as I want my design to be three-dimensional. It would make the viewer feel as though they are within the screen themselves.
